SPIETH plain bearings are hydrodynamic lubricated radial plain bearings with adjustable section. Mainly used in the field of mechanical engineering, especially suitable for complex requirements of construction machine tools.
1.2. Hydrodynamic lubrication
Hydrodynamic lubrication refers to the flow caused by a running spindle filled with lubricant

1.4. Lubrication system

The external lubrication of the pump is the best and most perfect lubrication system. Especially for high sliding speeds that require large amounts of oil, it is necessary to cool the external lubrication supply through the pump. For this lubrication system, any spindle position can be allowed. Only enough pump pressure is needed to coordinate loop and pipe resistance to ensure sufficient volume

1.5. seal
Plain bearings are fitted with washers to prevent lubricants from escaping from the internal system and to protect the bearing system from the intrusion of dust and moisture. The sealing system depends on the working conditions.

Higher sliding speeds require non-contact washers, such as seal threads for pressure seals, labyrinth seals or annular clearances with loosely inserted bronze sliding rings. Like annular clearance, spinning spindles produce hydrodynamic threads that are higher than the atmospheric pressure of the lubricant, and oil does not escape when the spindles are running. As long as the spindle is not running, all non-contact seals will have a small amount of oil leakage. It is known that this can be absorbed and returned to the lubricant tank.

2. Adjustable SPIETH radial plain bearing
2.1. Usage and benefits
This hydrodynamic segment radial plain bearing is suitable for use anywhere where bearing clearance and running smoothiness are required and an adequate supply of lubrication is ensured. Allow high and low frequencies to be the same as both directions.
Since the bearing clearance can be set and re-adjusted, there is no need for long adaptation between the bearing and the spindle. It is sufficient if the seat of the spindle and the holes in the housing are machined into a cylindrical shape according to the *** tolerance.
Today, this type of adjustable bearing is used successfully where surface quality and shape accuracy must be machined. GLM is used for spindle bearings in grinders, lathes, precision drilling or reverse bearings for milling mandrels and boring rods. For such machinery, for example, grinding and workpiece spindles with GLM bearings are used to achieve concentricity of less than 0.4mm.
One of the most underestimated advantages of GLM bearings is the damping effect of the hydrodynamic bearing system. The high absorbency of the fluid power steering device is useful for machining processes where high frequencies may occur due to the high durability of static components.
SPIETH hydraulic radial plain bearings are made of curved steel housing (a) with integrated clamping screws (b) and bearing bushing made of bearing bronze (c).
Bearings are configured in such a way that the mounting clearance (S1 + S2) will be eliminated after first tightening the clamping screws. The lubrication groove divides the bushing hole into several sliding surfaces. The tightest point of this wedge crack will be in the middle of the sliding surface and will extend into the lubrication tank in both directions. SPIETH hydrodynamic radial plain bearings are independent of the direction of rotation of the spindle, as the lubricant can flow under the development pressure in the extrusion wedge crack, which allows the spindle to rise from the sliding surface of the bearing. Due to the rules of physics, the hydrodynamic lubrication process is all around the spindle, so it is inevitable that the spindle is centered.
The radial orientation of the bearing in the housing hole will be achieved by means of a cylindrical pin (i) which will be fitted in a groove to be machined in the housing.
2.3. Carry out
